“I want the comfort of the familiar juxtaposed with the disquieting ambiguity of the unexpected. The ordinary set against the backdrop of the otherworldly, with profound respect for emptiness and shadow: the space around the work as well as the work itself. My hope is to design objects of dynamic contemplation that inspire the viewer to become something more than a bystander, to become actively engaged and vested. I want viewers to open themselves to the mysteries of the object and its surrounding, to embrace their innate curiosity. I’m urging them to ask new questions – not in pursuit of finite answers, but for the sake of wonder itself.”
