Ciara Foster is a graduate of The National College of Art and Design in Dublin where she studied Textile design, specialising in embroidery. She also completed an MA in Design at NCAD in 2003. She has had two solo shows one in Tipperary, at the South Tipperary Arts Centre and one at the Cockleshell Arts Centre in Duncannon, in Wexford. She has also been involved in many group shows at home and abroad.
Ciara has also been on various art residencies. In 2004 she was awarded an Arts Council Travel Award to travel to Vermont in the USA. Ciara was an Artist in Residence at Draiocht Art Centre in Blanchardstown, Dublin for six months, and she was also one of five artists in residence in Roundstone in Connemara for two weeks in June 2005.

During the two weeks of the residency, she produced work for a group exhibition which opened the Roundstone Arts Festival. In 2009 Ciara was Artist in residence at Aras Eanna, on the Aran Island of Inis Oirr in July 2009, she was also awarded a one month fellowship to The Vermont Studio Arts Centre in Johnson Vermont in 2009.
Ciara’s approach to art has always been very varied. Both drawing and working in 3-d has always been an important part of her work. Her sculptures are made from found and natural materials. Her 2d work ranges from conventional materials to a more mixed media approach, depending on what she is trying to achieve with each piece of art. She also makes handmade artists books, one of which is in the Wexford Artists book collection.
