"In my work I am interested in exploring the human psychologies in nature and space; looking at the ambivalent relationship between man and the natural World.
Throughout recent history of technological advancement in mass communications, we can access information about other cultures more than ever before, making us increasingly aware of the affects of man-made changes and global industrialisation. Climate change - possibly the biggest international concern of the 21st century - forces us rethink our role in the greater network; an ecosystem which is not inexhaustible or indestructible. Information technology is fast growing and convenient; the real becomes virtual, slick and intangible.
As an artist, I believe it is important to record, interpret and work with primary and secondary sources and experiences. I try to make experiences somehow more tangible, not forgotten or misinformed. Over the years, I have been drawing from personal
experiences of places I have travelled, people I have met, and my cross-cultural identity.
Born and raised in Scotland with Chinese traditions, I feel connected with both cultures. In my art, I want to re-examine aspects of human and natural history through a cross-cultural dialogue, merging Chinese and Scottish cultures and mythologies."
