Each summer I paint landscape paintings traveling to various teaching jobs. The paintings become the focus of my work each year back in NYC.
Painting in the landscape makes one aware of the passing of each moment, the so called "death" of these moments is as Wallace Stevens, the American poet said the "mother of beauty." Painting in my studio in NYC still allows me to find the formal means which comunicate at the complex level of art.
It is with this sentiment that I continue a reverence for the cycle of life I paint and am an example of a hope for the planet, which I am part.
VSC is a place where the community of art dialogue continues outside of an urban environment and the individual has the time and space to continue an individual art investigation, "out of intense personal necessity."
