Jessica Pezalla

Jessica Pezalla recently moved to Los Angeles after completing a
Yearlong Staff Artist-in-Residence position at Vermont Studio Center
in Johnson, VT. Pezalla was born in Montreal, Canada in 1976 and grew up in Oak Park, IL. She received a BA in Studio Art from Oberlin College(1998), and a Post Baccalaureate and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute (2003, 2006). Solo exhibitions include Mark Wolfe Contemporary Art in San Francisco, the Red Mill Gallery at Vermont Studio Center and the Diego Rivera Gallery at the San Francisco Art Institute. Her work was included in the 2008 Bay Area Currents show at the Oakland Art Gallery. Residencies include Ragdale in Lake Forest, IL and the Contemporary Artists Center in North Adams, MA. Pezalla received merit-based awards for graduate
studies from the San Francisco Art Institute and Oberlin College. Herwork has been reviewed in Artweek, Flavorpill, re-title.com and theSan Francisco Chronicle Culture Blog. Pezalla’s current series of papier-mâché sculptures explores the overlap between interior spacesand the natural world.
